Atearful war veteran marches alone at a Victory Parade in this touching photo which has been shared all over the world.
Hundreds of well-wishers can be seen lining the street to pay their respects to the unidentified man, seen clutching some flowers and a balloon.
The touching moment has been widely shared from a number of Facebook pages and received over a million likes - but what's the real story behind the photo?
“Last veteran of his World War Two (WWII) battle group marching alone in Victory Day Parade. How many people will ‘share’ this hero?” the caption reads.
In other newly shared photos, the veteran can be seen waving at the crowd and accepting flowers from another well-wisher.
He added in an interview with
BBC Trending that he didn’t speak to the man, adding: “Canned feelings and energy: If they are transmitted by the picture - it has reached its goal.”
The photo has attracted thousands of comments, although many Facebook users appear to be confused about his nationality, with the mystery man being described as American, Australian and British.
